SC constitutes bench to hear contempt case against Imran

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday constituted a three-member bench to hear the contempt case against Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on August 28.

According to sources of the apex court, the bench will headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali. Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain will be members of the bench. The court will hear the case on August 28.

On August 2, the Supreme Court, after initial hearing of the case, had ordered Imran Khan to resubmit his reply on August 28.

The top court in Pakistan had earlier issued a notice to the PTI chief over his “critical and derogatory” remarks against the judiciary and judges of the apex court in connection with alleged rigging in the historic May 11 general elections.

It said the cricket legend-turned politician apparently had tried to incite hatred against the apex court in one of his interactions with the media.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had emerged victorious in the polls with Imran’s PTI and President Asif Ali Zardari’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) trailing behind.

Imran Khan is simply telling the truth.Your job is to hear the truth and tell the truth and if you don't like it get out of the kitchen let someone else do the job. You are giving the people wrong impression by sidelining with some one else.Where were you when Nawaz Shreef party attacked Supreme court.And where were you when Dictator rule was legalized. Please listen the truth and tell the truth straight forward.Nation will love you for upholding the law impartially.Simple is that.

The judiciary is already despised with or without imran khan's views. Instead of wasting time forming benches to hear ludicrous cases, they should set up benches to find out why court cases in pakistan can last through generations.

This case is going the opposite direction to all that the Supreme Court has achieved so far. Most of us who live abroad watch the affairs of our Mother country very closely and have lauded each and every step the SC has taken. There is absolutely no doubt that the May 11 election was rigged by the PML-N and the establishment, Now instead of following up the hue and cry as to the rigging it seems that the SC is putting a muzzle on Imran Khan to stifle any criticism of The Sharif Family. Imran is absolutely right as to SHARAMNAK behavior of the few poling agents, who in fact helped steal the elections. Imran's behavior and attitude to the SC and its Hon Judges has always been respectful, no one sees this as a slight to the Majesty of the Supreme Court Judges unless ofcourse they want to make an issue of it. The Country would be better served by the Court taking up the complaint in the white paper instead, so that this kind of SHARMNAK behavior by the Polling Agents does not happen again. That would be decision for posterity instead of persecution of Imran Khan.
