LAHORE, Sept 17: A City District Government of Lahore team on Tuesday sealed two steel manufacturing factories for creating environmental pollution at Shadipura (Lahodero).

The CDGL authorities had been informed by the public that these factories were causing pollution in the area through burning tyres.

Officials said the authorities formed a team headed by Shalimar Town’s assistant commissioner and comprising the district environment officials and police and tasked it to visit the factories.

The team during a visit witnessed that Chenab Steel Mill and Sadaqat Steel Mill were being run through burning of used tyres, causing air pollution and inconvenience to the public.

The team also learnt that the environment department had issued notices to both factories’ owners twice but they didn’t bother about the public concerns.

The team sealed the factories for an indefinite period after they found the complaints genuine.

DENGUE WALK: Shalimar Town on Tuesday organised a walk to create awareness among the masses about dengue precautionary measures.

Led by the town officials and public representatives, the participants also distributed awareness material among the shopkeepers and other people on way to China Scheme.
