SHIKARPUR, Sept 20: Three men belonging to the Jatoi community were killed in a gun attack on Friday within the jurisdiction of the Lakhi Ghulam Shah police station.

The victims were identified as Haji Turail Khan Jatoi, his son Sobdar Jatoi and nephew Zawar Bhooro Jatoi.

Police said that they had been on their way to Marri shrine from Shikarpur when around 12 men on motorcycles belonging to the Jagirani tribe surrounded their vehicle and sprayed it with bullets.

The police said that the motive for the killing was an old tribal enmity. The bodies were handed over to relatives after a post-mortem examination was conducted at the Civil Hospital Shikarpur.

Later in the day, relatives of the victims protested with the bodies and blocked Rustam Road on the Indus Highway. They condemned the killing and raised slogans against killers and the police.

The road could be reopened for traffic after around three hours after police assured the protesters that the killers would be arrested.

However, no case for the incident was registered till Friday evening.
