LARKANA, Sept 24: Asad Khuhro, the chief of the Khuhro tribe, was arrested and sent to prison following the dismissal of his bail application by a sessions court in a 17-year-old murder case on Tuesday.

Mr Khuhro, a grandson of former Sindh chief minister Khanbhadur Muhammed Ayoub Khuhro, was on interim bail in a 1996 case pertaining to the killing of police head constable Shahwal Chandio.

On Tuesday, he appeared before the sessions court for confirmation of his bail. However, the judge dismissed the interim bail and remanded him in judicial custody.

He was later sent to central prison.

He was on interim bail and had contested the elections as an independent candidate.
