Jammu and Kashmir government employees staged protests outside the State Assembly in in Srinagar on October 1, 2013.The protesters called for the payment of unpaid in salaries and the raising of the retirement age, among other demands. Similarly The All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA) observed one day strike on September 30th, demanding a 40 percent increase in passenger fares and freight charges. Security has been tightened around the State Assembly in view of recent terror attacks in the state on the second day of the assembly session.
