SUKKUR, Oct 1: Two women were killed allegedly by their husbands in the name of honour on Tuesday.

According to police, Shah Nawaz Pitafi violently beat up his 30-year-old wife, Ms Hanifan, after accusing her of maintaining illicit relations in Achhi Masjid village located within the remit of Mirpur Mathelo police station in Ghotki district.

The police said that he attacked his wife with a club in their house and continued to hit her till she breathed her last. He then fled the house.

Pitafi’s relatives said that the couple had been at odds over some domestic dispute but the area people said Pitafi was suspicious of his wife’s character.

The police shifted the woman’s body to the Daharki Taluka Hospital for a post-mortem examination and then handed it over to the heirs.

No case was registered till late in the evening.

In Fauj Ali village near Ghouspur town of Kandhkot-Kashmore district, a woman, Benazir Khatoon, was killed allegedly by her husband, Allah Jurio, for her being disloyal to him.

The Ganjinay police on getting the information visited the village but the suspect had already escaped after hiding the body. They also could not find the body.

The area people informed them that the suspect had taken away the body and all his belonging and moved to some other place.

A hunt for the suspect was under way.

No case was registered till the filing of this report.
