KARACHI, Oct 4: A woman was burnt to death in a New Karachi locality on Friday, police said.

They said that Tania, 30, was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre with severe burn wounds where she died during treatment.

The Bilal Colony police said that her husband, Faheem, allegedly beat her over some domestic dispute in their New Karachi’s Sector-5-D house. He later sprinkled kerosene and set her on fire. The suspect managed to escape.

The police said it was Tania’s second marriage and she had no children with Faheem. However, she had a child from her first husband.

The police said that the suspect, a painter by profession, had been out of work and the couple often quarrelled with each other.

The police said that an FIR regarding the incident would be lodged by the victim’s family after her burial.
