KARACHI: Police on Monday claim to have arrested 57 suspects during targeted operations in different parts of the city during the past 24 hours, DawnNews reported.
Clashes with police forces in Bilal Colony resulted in two suspects being killed, while three of their accomplices managed to escape.
According to the police, they had been involved in various robberies.
In Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 5, another robber was killed due to firing by the police during clashes, while his accomplices managed to escape the scene.
Meanwhile, East and West Zone Police claims to have arrested 57 suspects in the past 24 hours and also confiscated a large amount of weapons from those arrested.
Moreover, Rangers forces also claimed to have arrested 22 suspects during various operations conducted in Yousuf Goth, Bilal Colony, Airport, Haroonabad, Site, Manghopir, New Karachi, Rabia City, Ranchore Line, and other areas of the city.
Forces confiscated Light Machine Guns, G3 rifles, SMGs, hand grenades, along with various other weapons from the arrested suspects. The suspects were said to be involved in heinous crimes.
In other related news, two people were seriously injured from firing near Baldia Chandni Chowk.
Firing inside a seminary at Manghopir's Din Mohammad Goth area killed the school's religious teacher and wounded the administrator.
Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism. Targeted operations are ongoing in Karachi under a directive issued by the federal government led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police against criminals already identified by federal military and civilian agencies.
