‘LAHORE, Oct 13: Markazi Jamiat Ahle-i-Hadith (MJAH) Chief Senator Sajid Meer told reporters on Sunday that the government had prepared a framework to initiate talks with Taliban militants.

The senator did not explain the framework.

“A majority of Taliban is against confrontation with the Pakistan army and the government,” he claimed, adding “the talks with Taliban will remain successful if serious and wholehearted efforts from both sides are made.”

He said those creating hurdles in government-Taliban talks were against Pakistan.

Also, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazal Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman sought talks between the government and the Taliban.

He told local party leaders the two parties (Taliban and the government) would have to be careful in dialogues. He criticised the government for raising power tariff.
