OKARA, Oct 15: A dacoit died in shooting with villagers on Monday night while his accomplices escaped in Haveli police jurisdiction.

Muhammad Irshad of Ratteki village woke up to the noise of barking dogs after mid night and saw nine armed men entering his compound by scaling the boundary wall.

Irshad slipped out of the house and alerted neighbours who surrounded his house and resorted to aerial firing.

The dacoits hastily collected some cash and gold and escaped shooting in the air. Some villagers chased the dacoits and traded fire with them.

At a little distance outside the village a dacoit was found shot dead.
