KARACHI, Oct 22: A short documentary made by Aisha Gazdar on so-called honour killings — ‘The Honour Deception’ — has won the best documentary Jury Award at the second Delhi Shorts International Film Festival held on Oct 12. There were about 80 films (documentary and feature) showcased in the festival from countries around the world, including Brazil, Japan, Mexico, Belgium, New Zealand and India.
‘The Honour Deception’ is a 16-minute film which highlights the actual reasons behind the so-called honour killings in the country, especially in parts of upper Sindh.
A previous film by Ms Gazdar, ‘The Silent Voices’, about home-based women workers, had won the best film award in the Canadian Labour International Film Festival.
