PESHAWAR, Nov 2: Police on Saturday arrested 44 outlaws, including seven proclaimed offenders, during raids in Daudzai, Mathra and Chamkani areas here.

An official said police also recovered arms and ammunitions from their possession and registered cases against them at the relevant police stations.

The official said that personnel of Pak Army, Frontier Corps and Frontier Constabulary also backed police during the combing and search operation in parts of the provincial metropolis.

Meanwhile, the Peshawar deputy commissioner on Saturday imposed section 144 to maintain peace during Muharram. Writing, distribution of objectionable pamphlets and posters and wall chalking, especially on mosques and imambargahs, was banned.

The administration also banned use of tinted glasses on private and public vehicles, display or carriage of weapons and printing and circulation of objectionable materials.

Similarly, the sale and use of firecrackers, opening of shops dealing in acids and sale of acids, sale of diesel, petrol and kerosene oil and other fuels in shops or in open areas and use of loudspeakers other than for ‘Azaan and Khutbas’ was also banned.

A statement issued from the deputy commissioner office said that anyone found violating the order would be proceeded against under section 188 PPC. The order would remain enforced for 30 days.

Meanwhile, police also reinforced security personnel at the checkpoints and increased movement of mobile and rider squads on different roads and streets to check the suspected people and vehicles.
