US Secretary Navy meets Pakistani leaders

ISLAMABAD: The United States Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus left Pakistan on Monday after a series of meetings with senior Pakistani leaders.

The US Secretary of the Navy leads the US Navy and Marine Corps, said a press release issued by the US Embassy.

In this capacity, he formulates and implements policies and programmes consistent with the national security policies established by the President and Secretary of Defence.

While in Pakistan, Secretary Mabus discussed a wide range of common maritime security issues with National Security and Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister Sartaj Aziz, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila, Director General of the Joint Staff Lieutenant General Mohammad Asif, and other senior government officials.

Secretary Mabus appreciated the opportunity to meet with his Pakistani counterparts and reaffirmed the importance of the US-Pakistani security relationship to regional stability.
