BADIN, Nov 25: An enraged farm worker hacked his wife, mother of seven, to death reportedly for taking some time serving him midday meal in Dolat Khan Laghari village near here on Monday and attempted to commit suicide afterwards.

According to villagers and neighbours, Ramchand Kolhi, 38, retuned from a nearby farm tired and asked his wife Jeeni, 35, to bring him meal. As she took some time he flew into a rage and struck her to death with a spade.

Probably shocked over what he had done in a fit of rage, Ramchand then tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide, they said.

He was rushed to a rural health unit (RHU) in nearby Talhar town but was referred to Hyderabad because of his critical condition.

The woman’s body was also taken to the RHU which was later handed over to her relatives after medico-legal formalities.

The Talhar police registered a case against Ramchand under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code on a complaint lodged by Soomji, brother of the late Jeeni.
