SIBI: One Frontier Corps personnel was killed and another sustained serious wounds in Sibi district of Balochistanin an attack on Monday by armed militats, an official said.

Khan Wasey, the Spokesman for FC Balochistan said the forces were conducting a search operation to apprehend the militants who had attacked a FC check post in Lehri Tehsil of Sibi when they hit a land mine.

Militants on motorcycles opened fire at FC check post in the same area in the morning. There was no loss of life as the forces quickly retaliated.

Wasey said that FC launched a search operation after the attack in the troubled area. The militants sped away on their motorcycles. However, the FC personnel became victim of landmine explosion.

He said the militants had planted the landmine to cause maximum damage to forces.

Lehri area of Sibi is considered to be the most troubled area of Balochistan. Militants have been targeting passenger trains, gas pipelines and security forces in the area for more than a decade.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack. However, the officials accuse the Baloch insurgents for the attack.
