ISLAMABAD: After a delay of two weeks, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) finally started repairing the damaged pipeline at Zero Point Interchange (ZPI) on Sunday.

Leakage of water from the pipeline near ZPI has become a routine, and for the past two weeks, motorists have been inconvenienced by the puddle formed under the Khayaban-e-Suharwardy to Faizabad loop.

Citizens who used this road to go to I-8, Kashmir Avenue or Faizabad also had to face the ditches concealed by the water.

The authority on Sunday closed the road and started repair work. This also led to confusion among motorists who then had to pursue the alternate routes to reach their destination.

Apart from irritating motorists, the damaged pipeline has also resulted in wastage of water.

Last month, speakers at a seminar held at National University of Science and Technology (Nust) maintained that water was going to become one of the most precious commodities in the next 35 years as all the glaciers in the northern areas were going to melt.
