KARACHI: Five people, including two gang war suspects, were killed in different incidents of violence in Karachi Wednesday whereas 41 suspects were arrested by Rangers' personnel during a targeted operation in the city, DawnNews reported.

Two bodies bearing torture marks were recovered from the city’s Memon Goth area. They were immediately shifted to a local hospital.

The victims, who could not be identified, had been kidnapped before being shot dead.

Meanwhile, a strangled body, identified as Rafiq, was recovered from a house situated on Super Highway.

During an exchange of fire between police personnel and Lyari gang war suspects in Malir’s Salar Goth area, two suspects Shan Arf Shani and Arif Billa were killed.

Moreover, two hand-grenades were also recovered from the suspects’ possession.

On receiving a tip-off, Rangers’ personnel conducted a targeted operation in Pathan Colony and arrested 41 suspects.

Approximately, 3,000 Rangers’ personnel, including females, took part in the operation during which entry and exit points of the area were also sealed.

Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism. Targeted operations led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by federal, military and civilian agencies.
