NAWABSHAH/SUKKUR: No senior police official, government functionary, elected representative or prominent figure attended the funeral of 10 police commandos held in Nawabshah, Naushahro Feroze and Pannu Aqil on Friday.

They were among the 13 commandos killed in a bomb blast near the main gate of the Razzakabad police training centre in Karachi on Thursday.

Haleem Khan Jalbani, Mohammed Saleem Jalbani, Dost Ali Brohi, Sarfaraz Ali, Yaseen Ali, Sajid Zardari, Shiraz Ali Sehar and Asad Ali Siyal were buried in the Bucheri, Daur, Balu Ja Quba, Moro and Padidan graveyards.

No senior police or government official was seen among the large number of people who attended the funerals.

Similar was the situation at the Pannu Aqil graveyard where two other victims of the Karachi police van tragedy were laid to rest.

Abid Katpar and Ashiq Channa were residents of Pannu Aqil.
