ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said Thursday that Taliban did not want to enforce Shariah in the country at gunpoint but wanted to liberate it from the US war, DawnNews reported.
Khan was speaking to media representatives before leaving for the Supreme Court in the federal capital.
On the success of peace negotiations with the Taliban, the PTI chief said the meeting between the government and the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan Shura had made it apparent which groups were interested in holding dialogue and which weren’t. He said there was hope of reaching a positive outcome on the dialogue process.
Khan underscored that tribal people should have been given priority for inclusion in the government's committee for peace talks, adding that they held the key to dialogue.
He said lasting peace would ensure the prosperity of the nation.
The PTI chief said the case on the appointment of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was very imperative and that it had been made after consensus of two political parties.
He also said the leadership of both parties was facing graft charges, adding that corruption would not be eliminated until NAB was not made a neutral body.
“Pakistan’s biggest menace is corruption,” said the PTI chief.

Imran Khan continues to look pretty disillusioned on this matter. Has he forgotten what taliban were doing in Afghanistan when in power. They turned the whole country into mud and stones, they were torturing and killing people including women in the name of shariah, there were kids and women starving on the streets, begging and being beaten by taliban security. These days people have found a new hobby- sit and criticize Imran Khan. All I ask these people is what better solution they have than that of Imran Khan's. I am proud of Pakistan Army and there is no doubting their abilities, Our Pak Army has been doing operations against them but the Taliban just don't stop that way. Taliban has been using guns and bombs but they can't change our mindset either. All in all Pakistan is weakening up and foreign elements are exploiting this. I have no problems with an operation but I do have problems with operations that further increase terrorism. Just give peace talks a chance and in the mean time devise a strategy for an operation that is aimed at reducing terrorism if the talks fail. .

He has gone absolutely bananas, absolutely crazy. I can't believe he is Oxford graduate. I can't believe people voted for him. Killing 80000 innocent people in the name of (their) Islam and accepting the responsibility of it and being proud of it.How could you justify that and have the guts to say what you said. Shame.

Well, actually, on a second thought, I agree with IK. Talibans don't want Sharia on gunpoint, in fact they don't want sahria at all... they have absolutely nothing to do with Sahria anyway. But what they want at gunpoint is lawlessness, mass killing, chaos, Fitna, durg trafficing, kidnapping, ransom.... OMG, these things could only be done by gunpoint... right? So IK is right. don't you guys agree?

Those who live by the gun die by it too. Those who endorse violence and it's perpetrators suffer the violence themselves in the end. Their end is also violent. What one gives to the world comes back...

@Awan: Taliban have destroyed the tribal culture by killing hundreds of Maliks. What they present is barbarianism in its crudest form. IK and his hypocritical crony Rustam Shah Mohmand would want us to believe that its the tribals fighting for their system. It is simply not true.
