QUETTA: At least three persons were killed and two women injured in a firing incident on Wednesday in the Satellite Town area of Quetta, the capital of the southwestern Balochistan province, police said.

Imran Qureshi, the Superintendent of Police Sariab told Dawn.com that the armed militants riding on a motorcycle opened fire at a car and killed three people inside it.

"Two women inside the car sustained serious wounds," Qureshi said. The injured women were taken to Civil Hospital Quetta for medical treatment.

Moreover, Qureshi said the assailants sped away on their motorcycle after the attack.

Police quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area to launch a probe into the incident.

"The victims are yet to be identified", SP Qureshi added.

The firing incident forced nearby shopkeepers to pull-down their shutters. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
