LAKKI MARWAT: An assistant sub-inspector received minor injuries when a police car hit a suspected vehicle in Darra Pezu town here on Saturday.

Officials said the police car was chasing the vehicle after its driver ignored the signal to stop for checking at Wanda Banochi checkpost on Bannu-Dera Ismail Khan road.

They said that an exchange of firing also took place between the police party headed by ASI Javed Khan and the suspected militant trying to escape. As a result of firing, tyres of the suspected car burst and the police car hit it from behind. In the collision, ASI Javed was injured.

The officials said after the collision, the police recovered explosives and ammunition from the vehicle and arrested the driver.

The seizure included two hand grenades, two kilogram explosives, two spare magazines of short machine guns, 35 live rounds and nine empty bullet shells. The arrested driver was identified as Noman.The police registered case and began investigation.
