TEHRAN: Iranian state television said Iran has started a joint naval drill with the Pakistani navy east of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which one fifth of the world's oil supply passes.
Tuesday's report did not say how the exercise in the Oman Sea would last.
Iran's official IRNA news agency reported on Sunday that the Pakistani vessels include a warship, a submarine and logistics vessels.
It said the Pakistani fleet will leave after four days.
In the past, regional countries have had a presence at similar Iranian maneuvers as observers.

Well done. Our interests lie with Iran, China, CARs, and Russia. Russia has been taking principled stands in world affairs and i think it's a new age dawning, and if Pakistan corrects it's course and start making honorable and dignified decisions then the doors to success will open to us.

oh my days!! oh finally they have started working together at some possible level. unlike that gasline project. As nothing has been responded uptill now by the authorities and iran keeps reminding us that charge which we will have to face if we didnot start the work.I beleive so , its good for both of them to copoerate with each other at each single point where they feel there's some resistance. goodluck jeeye pakistan. and iran too .

Iran and Pakistan are not only neighbors, we have a common Poet and Philosopher "Allama Iqbal", whose work in Farsi is taught in Iranian Schools, what the Iranian call "Iqbal Lahori".

Iran is more closer by language script, belief and culture. We should enhance closeness. Pakistan as regional power should bring Middle East and Iran closer and be the intermediary.

Do you Taliban know what a joke is? Islam does allow jokes. Pakistan has way bigger issues to resolve than to do joint naval exercises with the Iranians.

Unfortunately words alone don't mean much. Sadam Hussain used to brag about his military might and look what happened to him and his country. The Romans, the Greeks, the Germans and the French all bragged about their power, look where they are today.

Excellent show of unity.
The only choice for tranquility in ME/Pakistan is unity.
These countries can only be friends with west if they reply with a 'Yes Sir!'.

@Ikram :
'Big or small' was in reference to Iran. Iran has a very small submarine which no other country has. We got our midget submarine from the Italians when they stopped using it. Hence the claim, we surprise, as Iran probably thought they had the smallest, ours was 2 man, Iranian I think is a 5 man sub. Anyways, to be taken in levity.

Great !
Good work.
These two potentially mighty nations should ink Defense, Economic, Trade, Regional Cooperation Treaties...preempt the threats mustering, emanating, ominous beyond the horizons, East and West.
They should learn to own--Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf, the Fisheries and the Trade Routes--command what is already theirs.

I guess Iran's history of threatening to shut down the Strait of Hormus doesn't concern Pakistan? In case you didn't know it your actions are a direct affront to Saudi Arabia and every country that relies on oil shipped through that Strait .. that includes almost all of your significant export customers including China. Typical Pakistan .. can't go very long without taking some action which makes you look duplicitous and offends your supposed allies.
