QUETTA: Frontier Corps (FC) personnel on Monday claimed to have killed 10 militants in Balochistan's troubled Panjgur district.
Khan Wasey, a spokesman for the para-military force, said that the FC launched an operation against miscreants involved in targeted killings and bomb explosions in Panjgur district's mountainous areas.
He said ten suspected militants were killed whereas three FC soldiers were seriously wounded during the operation.
"Both sides used heavy weapons during exchange of fire", Wasey said.
The injured personnel were rushed to Panjgur for medical treatment.
Moreover, the FC personnel also claimed to have destroyed three suspected militant hideouts and two vehicles.
He said the forces initially faced resistance from the militants who were hiding in the mountains adding that the exchange of fire netween the security forces and militants continued for more than two hours.
"The dead militants belong to a banned Baloch militant group", he said.
Panjgur is considered to be one of the troubled districts of Balochistan.
Baloch separatists groups have been operating and targeting security forces and pro-government personalities in the area.
At least three militants were killed in Tusp area of Panjgur district on April 20 and another three in January this year.
At least nine people, including three security personnel were killed in a gunbattle in Paroom area of Balochistan's troubled district in September last year.
