KANDAHAR: Afghan officials say a shootout between Afghan and Pakistani border guards has killed one Afghan policeman in a remote southern region where the border between the two countries is poorly marked.
In the Afghan province of Kandahar, police spokesman Zia Durrani said the skirmish started shortly after dawn on Thursday and lasted for about two hours.
Durrani says the two sides engaged in sporadic shooting using rifles and firing rockets across the boundary.
Kandahar government spokesman Dawakhan Minapal says the fighting in remote Maroof district was sparked by an attempt by the Pakistani border police to construct an outpost on the Afghan side of the border.

Should have built these posts before 9/11 when friendly taliban were in power. Now its too late as the afghans think most of balochistan and kpk is theirs. Just recently they occupied a Pak observation post near Dir and our govt did nothing.

Afghan refugees had ruined our country by criminalization and drugs and now they are messing with our boundaries. Pak army should respond in a decisive manner. Construct an armoured wall and lay land mines. if brazil can monitor 24,000 km border with chile why can we monitor mere 1,600 km border with afghanistan?

@mani Dont worry, we will provide the same to Kashmirs and all oppressed minorities in India to defend themselves against Indian state. The last time I checked there are countless succession movements going inside India.
