KARACHI: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila laid the foundation-stone of Bahria Model School and College in Gwadar on Thursday.

During his visit to navy’s coastal establishments, Admiral Sandila reviewed the operational preparedness of troops at PNS Makran, Pasni. He interacted with officers and men and appreciated their hard work and devotion towards the defence of the country, said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations.

The Bahria Model School and College in Gwadar is being built on 16 acres of land provided by the government of Balochistan. The provincial government will also provide Rs200 million for the construction and development of the college which will be built in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation.

A makeshift arrangement of Bahria Model School Gwadar till the 8th standard was made operational in 2010 to provide quality educational facilities to the local populace.

At present, 417 students are enrolled in the school while 27 teachers from the local community are employed there.

With the construction of new building, the school will be upgraded to the level of intermediate with science and computer labs, playground, indoor sports facility and library.

The complex will also have a vocational training centre, auditorium, teacher’s accommodation and human resource development centre. With these extended facilities, the Bahria Model School and College would offer quality education to more than 2,000 students and also provide jobs to local people.

The upgradation of Bahria Model School is in continuation of Pakistan Navy’s efforts towards the development of Balochistan’s coastal areas. A cadet college has already been set up in Ormara where local students are provided with quality education free of cost.
