Its quite a strange world. We now see Arabs lined up with Israel whereas people from other parts of the world rallying in support of Gaza, including Jewish people. Scholars like Noam Chomsky and Norman Finkelstein as well as TV celebrities such as Jon Stewart openly condemning Israel. The fact is that while Israel will never be forgiven for the war crimes they have committed against children, Hamas has to go. @Faisal Correction / Addition :- In factual position Iran's policy is to support the oppressed - those at the receiving end (Mazloom) regardless of the religion or cast etc. Iran would therefore support even non Muslims - Christians or Jews etc - if found to be oppressed. Which Muslim country would like to be a part of a Muslim Caliphate ruled from somewhere outside its national boundaries? Would Pakistanis, for instance, like to be a part of such a Sultanate? The Arab leaders of today probably see Israel as their saviour against the rise of such alternate powers as the ISIS. How many among the educated Pakistanis would like to be a part of Baghdadi's Caliphate? Had religion been a bigger cementing force than national identities, the erstwhile Pakistan would not have broken into the present-day Pakistan and Bangladesh. Love for language becomes a stronger force of division between Punjabis and Sindhis than their common religion. And this is everywhere, not just in Pakistan. In India too doesn't a Tamilian Muslim feel closer to a Tamilian Hindu than an Urdu-speaking UP-ite? The rise of ISIS in the Arab world as well as Pakistan's preoccupation with its internal turmoil with terrorists gives Israel its moment of opportunity to hit at Hamas.

you need to take this article with a large pinch of salt. The arabs all have their own differences, but they all universally despise the Israelis, and Netanyahu in particular. They also are wary of helping Hamas, Saudi Arabia usually expects obedience to come with any help. But Hamas does not follow the Saudis Wahabi brand of Islam. So they are never going to submit in the sense the Saudis want. Its a shame that the only Muslim nation that has really stood up to the Israelis is a Shia one in Iran. The Sunni world has been divided and pathetic in its response. I say this as a Pakistani Sunni Hanafi myself.

Arab states do support Palestinians but they dont support Hamas anymore. Actually, they need to save palestinians from Hamas before they save them from Israeli army. Moreover, Palestinians have been living in inhuman conditions in so called refugee camps in the Arab states. Why dont they do something for those refugees, instead of giving weapons and radicalization to Hamas? NYT report amounts to propaganda. It is contradicted by the report of Saudi King, in today's Dawn, lambasting Israel's action in Gaza as genocide and condemning the silence of the world community. American media falsely attributes views to Arab leaders which are actually espoused by Americans themselves. What is happening in Gaza is not soley an issue of right or wrong of Hamas' policy but the indiscriminate killing of innocent people including children and women taking refuge in the schools. For the record, It was Saudi Arabia, in connivance with Israel and the United Stated, created Hamas as a counter balance to PLO and its secular approach to solving the Arab Israeli conflict. it does not take a lot of work on Google to uncover these treacherous rulers and their dirty deeds.

All humane rational people will accept that it is a crime to launch missiles from densely populated area, using your own women and children as human shield whatever the motive. palestine is indeed enslaved by Hamas. Pakistanis who are suffering so much terrorist murders should be first to recognise it, unless you feel only the wrong sort of Pakistanis are killed in attacks.

@ARSLAN Just because you have not read my posts on Israel I forgive you -- Hamas was indeed created by Israel to divide the Palestinians fighting to end Israeli occupation -- and Hamas did exactly that -- it separated Gaza from West bank -- it is still working as a tool of Israel against the formation of a Palestinian state and as an accessory in the wanton killing of 300 Palestinian children by the Israelis fascists so far.

@jen it is exactly this school of thought that promotes rifts between Muslims. Maybe we will never have perfect harmony. But some level of harmony and a sense of Muslim identity must always be pursued. After all a few hundred years ago Muslims had a flourishing expansive Ottoman Empire. It was not even a time of such interconnected world. It's a lot more possible now with all the communication technology.
