ISLAMABAD: Peoples Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, who at present is in London, said on Monday that PTI’s decision to quit assemblies was not a good omen for the continuity of the democratic process.
In the light of Imran Khan’s announcements, PPP spokesman Farhatullah Babar quoted Mr Zardari as saying, the PPP had decided to hold consultations with other opposition political parties about further participation in parliamentary proceedings.

At the same time the PPP will also consult the government on the situation in order to arrive at an amicable solution so that the democratic process was not derailed.

What democracy are you talking about? Governments are being run as family businesses and opposition party workers are being thrown in jails by the thousands. From earthquakes to floods, from TTP bombings to operations in North Waziristan - your travel to distant meaningless lands meant more to you and Nawaz Sharif than the wellbeing of the people that put you in these offices.. What is happening today might be a bad omen for family owned political businesses but it is definitely not a bad omen for democracy.

Love him or hate him but one thing you have to praise him for, he delivered the most politically stable era of Pakistan. I am not one of his party supporters but I still have to say, Thank you, Mr. Zardari.

I guess stealing pakistani public fund and putting in your swiss account is good omen for democracy. To you democrary is supporting corruption and then going around the world to get khiraat from other country. This is a shameful thing for any nation
and if the nation has leaders like you and PLMN then corruption will be the key thing to survive in that nation,

A country that was formed in order to subvert democratic principles -majority rule ,solving issues by discussion -what you expect from them ,dont treat this as judgement but as a comment ,willing to correct my assumptions if you provide a valid reasoning in a civilized manner

Snatchig power by vote rigging is not democracy. Zardari is actually interested in the DEAL whereby PPP(Zardari League and Bilawal) will take turns with PML (Nawaz, Shahabaz, Hamza) every 5 years to loot the country and keep the loot within the family but out of the country. Pakistanis are fed up with Zardaris and Sharifs and want change.

@Humdard Yes, exactly and precisely it is so. Be it AZ or NS for them democracy means that one of them should be at the helm of affairs. When AZ is in power he puts all corruption cases under the table to please NS and vice versa. And yet they claim to be supporters of democracy !!!

@Khanman
Unless we come out of the clutches of "Pseudo Morality" and start understanding "Politics" and "Democracy" as "balance between interests", we will be going through the same for the next 68 years as well and will be presenting same kind of analysis (read 'Mein nahi manta, mein nahi manta....).
The day we come to accept politics as 'reality' instead of 'idealism' based on morality (read pseudo morality); 2 /3 democratic transitions, even if the terms are 30 months long or even less, will bring the change that is required to set a promising direction.
PS: Now it is for the people (read Awam) to know 'how to become' an "Interest" in this game of politics.
@Mr. K
Same here, I don't consider Zardari as 'statesmen' but I accept that he is much better (even as a "Quack" than "Highly Qualifies Doctors" of politics in the country) at curing the ills of Pakistani Politics.
