Shahbaz agrees to Model Town FIR registration, refuses to resign: sources

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Monday agreed for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) in the Model Town incident.

The chief minister, who reached Islamabad earlier today, has however refused to resign from his post, sources in the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) said.

The development comes as leadership of the PML-N is holding discussions on the matter.

Shahbaz said he was an elected chief minister and would not resign due to political pressure.

The Punjab government is currently distraught due to ongoing protests in the federal capital and demands by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri.

Qadri wants Shahbaz to resign and has also called for the resignation of the chief minister's brother Nawaz Sharif on several occasions during the ongoing sit-ins.

Qadri is also adamant over the registration of an FIR against the Sharif duo for their alleged involvement in the Model Town incident which claimed the lives of 14 PAT activists and supporters in Lahore on June 17.

Shahbaz once said to change his name if Load shedding is not finished in 6 months, it did not finish & his name was not changed, then after Model Town massacre he claimed in his Press Conference that it will take a moment to resign if he is implicated in the Inquiry tribunal's Report which he has been and again he is defying to resign.What sort of a man he is? these lies disqualify him as the Chief minister.

Nation should thank him for this, being the God that he believes he is finally he has allowed registration of an FIR against killing of 19 and injury to other 90. A system to laugh at, look what you have done, no one is protected in this country by the law that exists for their protection. Without a doubt, it was only poor and the religious minorities that were under the sword, now it is everyone, that is the law of nature for you the two faced discriminate nation that was made in the name of Islam.

Their family has been Exposed once again as they ordered Islamabad Police chief to charge on participants of sit-ins but he refused, Resigned and his son exposed Governments Murdering civilian approach once again. All PML-N Works should all resign and leave PML-N if they have a bit of humanity left.

The great Model Town massacre took place on 17the june 2014. It is similar to the Jalianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. The British House of Common condemned and force him to retire. But our rigged elected MNAs and Senate said it is democracy.

He said in his press conference that he will resign in seconds if implicated, is it not remembered or is it not an insult to the Nation? Why is he afraid if he is not guilty?

He is always quick to take punitive measures against the government employees and without giving them a chance to defend themselves,he suspends,removes or transfers the officials,now it is his turn and he is not ready to resign.The PM has not removed him from CM ship simply because he is his brother.How a fair trial can be expected from these brothers.

That tells you something about the true face of the situation in Pakistan unfortunately. Mr. CM needs to understand the difference between political pressure and CRIMINAL investigation. More worrisome is the general APATHY of the public. One might not agree with the political ideology,but these were fellow Pakistanis,relatives and neighbors. Well then like people like leaders.

what is the meaning of "Agreeing to FIR"? there was a crime there has to be FIR! is there no law in the country? shame on our police and courts! This is exactly the reason why so many people are supporting Imran khan because this dictatorship kind of ruling is rejected by masses where Police needs CM to approve the FIR.

How can investigations / inquiry against the sitting Chief Minister be free and fair? In fact on moral grounds the moment any case is initiated against him he should resign. This is why in the government services, whenever, an inquiry is to be made against an official he / she is suspended first.

Oh how fallen are the mighty. Come on Shahbaz Sharif take a deep breath its not the end of the world. People will respect you more if you resign. Now that the chips are down and soon you will be out. I want to remind you of one small story. There was a man killed without a trial in "a police muqabala" and you had the dead criminal's corpse paraded thru the streets of Lahore. Something did not seem right to me and in my heart I knew it was disrespectful to the family of the fallen man. That seems like such a long time ago. What was that Iqbal Bano song lazim hai kay hum bhi dekhainge.
