The teaser trailer for upcoming Pakistani tele-film 8969 is out and features the versatile Saba Qamar.
Directed by Azeem Sajjad in collaboration with AJ Productions, the film stars Saba Qamar, Hussain Tiwana, Sadaf Hamid, Azeem Sajjad and Anam Malik among others.
Sajjad has been in the industry for over two decades and has done well, mostly directing and producing Pushto television serials. His drama, Za Pakhtoon Yum (I am Pakhtoon), which aired on AVT Khyber, received the most recognition.

Not much has been conveyed about the storyline in the trailer. From the looks of it, the film could be a murder mystery/thriller with a romantic side story to the plot. That being said, it does appear to be a run-of-the-mill venture without much substance.
Rumours had spread that Saba Qamar will do an item number called "Mastani" for the movie, but the actor denied all speculations.
“When I do dramas, housewives relate to me. I don’t think they will continue to feel the same about me once I perform on an item song,” she said in an interview.
She further added that Mehwish Hayat and Humaima Malik have faced scrutiny for doing item numbers.
However, a video of the song "Mastani" went viral soon after her statement.
Even though it's still too early to come to a conclusion, 8969 looks unimpressive for the most part.
With movies like Operation 021 and Na Maloom Afraad coming out, Pakistani cinema is stepping into a more refined era of film making, and if this trailer is an accurate reflection of the tele-film as a whole, 8969 does not seem like it's going to come close.

Such great talent! Our youth should make her their role model. Youth should learn all her moves and try to copy them. Youth should not work hard in studies and education since there is no fun in it. Their aim in life should be to become 'stars', to dance and forget religion.

Agreed with the analysis: it seems to be a cheap imitation of a below average bollywood movie and it seems Saba Qamar doesn't care for her image.
Pak cinema should find their own recipe of success and truly innovate like some of the recent films like Waar! and others mentioned above instead of merely immitating bollywood who have massive budgets and experience.

Acting and dancing is ok, may be. But why the typical cheap item number without any sort of newness into it. Do we really need to follow indian movies even if they are on a deteriorating side?

This is what they do not get. They departed from their forte and tried to immitate those garbage TV dramas from Zee TV about 10-12 years back and there was a big downfall of Pakistani TV drama quality. It took them about 5-6 years to realize their mistake. Now, they think somehow Bollywood is the STANDARD of good movies.

Why bring religion in every single thing? There are going to be all sort of people in this world. Some are going to be more religious than others. As a parent if we follow teachings and train kids according to our teachings, none of these things matter. Anyways religion is between you and your lord in my case my Allah.
My prayers are for every department of Pak including movie industry.

I don't get Pakistani's, on the same pages of Dawn they shunned Malala Yousufzai, who stood for education and a role model for youth that the rest of the educated looks up to. Now they are denouncing the movie actresses, I don't know how they got the idea that this artist is being portrayed as a role model.
Seems like Pakistani's want their girls to be deprived of their wants and desires, and be dependent on their males, dress and carry themselves in a certain way (of their desire).

@Shakil Khan there are always boundaries in any society, i know we don't give importance to religion. So keep religion a aside and think is this Pakistani culture? What type of mindset we want to build in Pakistan? Unfortunately we are lost nation. We don't know what we are doing. Without boundaries in society, what about to show x rated films on our television? As everyone is independent for choice?

I don't think it is right to say "Lollywood" as most movies are being made in Karachi! It should be Kellywood or rather Pollywood for Pakistan's Film Industry! At least we have to copy some Hollywood as the Indians did and turned to Bollywood!

Looks rubbish. . if a movie needs sex appeal ('item songs') to sell it then obviously the plot is weak.. drama actiin humour suspense and special effects etc are either a part of the plot or enrich it.. item songs are basically an admission of defeat.. its a cheap tactic to generate interest in an otherwise poor movie. . like saying we know our movies rubbish but come and watch it anyway cos it's got some lewd dancing in it. . lame. . operation 021 and ba maaloom afraad look much more interesting. . Please stop trying to compete with bollywood on how crap a movie you can make.. bollywood is a massive industry and can afford to make this sort of rubbish.. Pakistani film industry should instead try and compete with them on the many quality movies they make or their technical expertise. .

@Pakistani creation of Pakistan was for Muslims of Indian subcontinent yet Quaid himself said (paraphrasing) that you are free to go to your mosques, your temples, your churches, etc. Pakistan was created secular.

@Fappy You got it sooo wrong! Pakistani fashion creations are copied by Indian designers - not the other way around. Most fashion conscious Pakistani females ( within Pakistan and abroad) can't stand overly tacky Indian designs which don't come anywhere near the sophistication and quality of Pakistani couture!
Some outstanding Pakistani designers were educated and trained in Paris and Milan so they're trendy trailblazing designs are far more fashion forward and unique then any Indian designers.

@nasiroski the reason for it is that Malala is not a real hero. Yes something very bad happened to her, but that does not mean that she is the most intellectual person of the country. Being paraded everywhere in the World as a symbol, writing books and meeting the queen and heads of states. Why doesn't the West take the girls that are victims of violent crimes everyday in Hindustan and give them the same celebrity parade. Unfortunately a huge population thinks this is the only right for women that they desire to dance, people who say this have their own minds polluted. All they think about women is an object of entertainment.
what about real freedom so they can do good things in life get proper education.

Our slowly emerging movie industry needs to stick to real issues and problems of society like our dramas. We don't need to copy Bollywood or there actions in movies as 98% of there movies are not worth watching anyways.
