QUETTA: Fifteen people reported to be militants belonging to the Bugti tribe and their 70 accomplices surrendered themselves to law-enforcement personnel in Sui on Sunday.
Khan Wasey, spokesman for the Frontier Corps, Balochistan, said in a statement that the men belonged to various Bugti clans living in Sui area of Dera Bugti.
They had been involved in attacks on security forces and national installations in Dera Bugti and other areas of the province.
They laid down their weapons in the presence of FC Inspector General Maj Gen Muhammad Ejaz Shahid at a ceremony attended by tribal elders and senior officials.
The weapons, ammunition and explosives surrendered by them included 89 rifles and landmines. The militants vowed to renounce violence. They also pledged not to get involved in anti-state activities. They welcomed the general amnesty announced by the provincial government, along with a special package for militants surrendering to the state and pledging not to take part in anti-state activities.

they should be questioned, and these militants must have great Intel that it could help the government further their mission. Please don't let them go without questioning......I hope someone is smart enough there, that might have already done this?

The weapons will all be found to have Indian Army markings on them and the surrenderers will all give graphic descriptions of their Indian trainers

Think logically not emotionally.your leaders have not allowed their tribes to prosper. Do you think they will after winning what you call "independence". You cannot change their nature.
Their tribesmen lay down their lives for the tribal leaders and their children. What do tribesmen get in return? Humiliation when ever a tribesmen attends their court with a request.

this is great news. We criticise when they get it wrong, but here the Baluchistan Government should take some credit for achieving this. Whilst the TTP war is winding down, it now appears the Baluchistan insurgency may also be winding down.

It is a great initiative and gesture by the provincial government. Rather then alienating the locals, they should be given facilities, education and means to progress economically and socially. Fighting can only take one so far, as Americans have learned (hopefully) in Afghanistan and Iraq. Rest of the way is education and economy, givng them a respectable and honest living.

Amnesty and surrender is a good policy. BUT, this should be the first phase, what is paramount is the phase two, where on the intel gathered from these people lead to the planners, handlers and financiers, which eventually lead to their elimination by military and intelligence ops means. In most occasions, it is given that leads will take to the consulates of certain , not so friendly country in Afghanistan.

@Zoab Khan This is a first time - non sardar - is a CM of Balochistan - secondly , PML was the largest party in Balochistan but NS choose to let Dr.Malik form the govt. Next NS let a nationalist with minority in votes to be Governor - Smart move - now slowly but surely dividends will pay. Next smart move to flood the province with primary education - with in 5 years you will start to see results - within a decade all will change - no educated person will die or follow for sardars - Time will tell.

Balochistan education level is low, skill in most field is low, you will have to depend on india or iran including some big power. First they will push you in to caves and then control your resources. Good luck.
