SUKKUR: The wildlife department has rescued a rare blind dolphin which remained trapped for two days in the shallow waters of the Rice canal in the Sukkur barrage area, officials said on Saturday.

After getting information about the dolphin, wildlife staffers reached the spot, rescued the dolphin and release it in the deep waters of the Indus on Friday.

Deputy Conservator of Wildlife Taj Muhammad Shaikh and Muhammad Imran Shaikh told the media that the age of the female dolphin was 12 years.

Its length was five feet and four inches and it weighed 45 kilograms.

They said that the wildlife department also removed four illegal fishing nets.
