SIALKOT: Indian Border Security Forces shot dead a Pakistani citizen near zero line in the Shakargarh sector on Wednesday.
According to senior officials of Chenab Rangers, local farmers were working in their fields near zero line, close to Ajlaala village.
Tauqeer Ahmed, 30, had gone to the area inadvertently. The Indian forces fired at him without any warning.
He received serious bullet injuries. The BSF soldiers dragged him into the Indian territory and shot him dead.
Chenab Rangers said efforts were being made to bring back the body.
Pakistan strongly protested against the brutality and dragging and killing of its citizen by Indian troops.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office protested to India over the death of a civilian in the latest incident of ceasefire violation on the Line of Control on Tuesday.
“The government of Pakistan, today, has lodged protest with the government of India through diplomatic channels over the casualty of a 70-year-old civilian in the Rawlakot sector, caused due to indiscriminate firing by the Indian forces, on 28 October,” a Foreign Office spokesperson said.
Mohammad Din, a shepherd, was killed on Tuesday evening in Chirikot village in Indian shelling. He was reportedly grazing goats in fields near the LoC.
According to the ISPR, Pakistani military “effectively responded” to the Indian firing.
The demarche given to the Indian government condemned the incident and called upon Delhi to restrain its security forces from firing on the civilians, and stop the ceasefire violations across the LoC and the Working Boundary.
Thirteen Pakistani civilians have been killed in the latest phase of LoC violations that have virtually continued unabated since the first week of this month.

Pakistan is being paid back in the same coin. Still remember the beheading of the Indian soldier last year by Pakistani military.
The new Indian government seems to be pretty aggressive for its own good.
Pakistan has been looking eye to eye with the Indian army previously and now the Indian army is showing who is the boss in the region.
Pakistan is trying all its energy to internationalize Kashmir issue and failing miserably as no other country is showing keenness in its argument. So lot of frustration in Pak establishment now.
Pakistan lost all credibility when Osama was found and killed.
And now even if some genuine issue comes up, all countries look at Pakistan suspiciously.

In a high security area how can a man "inadvertently" stroll across the border?? If it's a collateral damage I really feel sorry for the family but if it's a cover up then the actions are justified. At enemy lines nobody can be trusted and Pakistani army would have done the same.

What was this person doing in the ZERO LINE. Why does the Pak Rangers allow people to come and do agriculture work near the Zero line when the situation is very hot. Some one in the PAK RANGERS/FO should come out with the true statement. Do not think that the Indian Border Guards would have shot and dragged this person into their side. Something is really fishy in this report.

We understand that there is either fences or the obstruction on the LOC particularly where there is villages and farming activities is done. How come that an Indian soldier can enter Pakistan territory crossing the LOC , drag a man into Indian territory and fired him. ? Pak rmy is vigilant on the LOC when so much tension is brewing thereon.
The villagers residing near the LOC are quite aware that how dangerous it could be to cross the limit. The man might have crossed the LOC and naturally crossing of the LOC will be treated as infiltration of the non state actor/ militants and will be fired . The news can not be taken on its face value and its evaluation based on logic indicates it to be distorted story.

An outsiders view from Africa.The story is highly suspect and claims in the pakistani press are starting to sound pretty bizzare.
Firstly,all non-combatants should have been moved away from the line of fire by now.If this wasn't done the the fault lies with the rangers.
Secondly,no civilian would be able to walk into walk into a combat zone without encountering security personnel that would advise against or prevent this action,question arises why is pakistan not taking the most basic measures to protect it's people.
Finally,this kind of proximity to the LoC is or should be mined for a considerable distance on either side of the fence making any excursion of this nature suicidal.
This kind of immature and provocative reporting does no credit to the press in pakistan(or is this just more ISI/ISPR false reporting?

@Nikesh I remember a news from a few weeks ago when a BSF soldier was arrested on this side of the border. He was humanely treated by Pakistani rangers and honorably returned back to India. It was all over Pakistani AND Indian news. Some of the Indian commenters here actually wrote gratitude filled remarks for us.
So NO. We have never and will never do the same treatment to our prisoners.

Any Pakistan who comes within 500M of the border is assumed to be a hostile intruder infiltrator and will be shot dead without any warning. In any case, shot intruders are reported by Pakistani media as villagers. It is the responsibility of the Pakistani ranger to ensure that no one from that line dares to come near the border. In this case the responsibility of this intruder even if he was a villager lies with the Pakistani border force. India and Pakistan are at war so if anyone comes near the border we will shoot. Hope this is clear.

This is all the result with this so called aman ki asha which is purily beneficial to India and got nothing in it for Pakistan. When Indian solider in uniform cross into Pakistan this non sense of aman ki asha is invoked and when our civilian who didnt even cross the border is murdered by indian forces, he is labelled as infiltarator. Its our own mistake. By our own actions or let me rephrase, the vested interests of few elites we have let the indians get away with their non sense for long. Time for our behavioural change towards india was yesterday. I say go back to the policies of 80s thats the only way to deal with india.
