Will surrender to police if they arrest Sharifs: Qadri

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said Thursday that he was willing to surrender to police if Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were arrested in relation to the Model Town tragedy.
Speaking to media representatives in Lahore, the PAT chief said the joint investigation team (JIT) constituted to probe the Model Town tragedy was merely formed to give a clean chit to plotters and killers, adding that it was against the principles of justice and law.
Earlier on Tuesday, the government finalised the formation of a five-member JIT to probe the killings of PAT workers on June 17
The investigation team is led by CCPO Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema and also comprises Col Ahmed from Inter Service Intelligence (ISI), Muhammad Ali from Intelligence Bureau (IB), SSP Shahzad Akbar and DSP Khalid Abu Bakar.
The PAT rejected the probe, saying that Abdul Razzaq Cheema has personal relations with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and would not be impartial.
Qadri said the party had demanded that the JIT be formed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that none of the names proposed by the PAT had been included in the team.
He said the party had also laid a condition that they would not recognise personnel from the Punjab police in the team and questioned as to how killers could investigate their own conduct.

Qadri arrives in Lahore
Qadri arrived in Lahore on Thursday morning.
The firebrand cleric left the airport amid strict security measures and set off to visit Data Darbar en route to his party secretariat in Model Town.
Three deputy superintendent of police (DSPs), including SP Cantt, were posted along with 200 other policemen for Qadri's security.

A large number of supporters, including scores of women, had gathered outside the Allama Iqbal International Airport and were part of the PAT chief's convoy on his journey.
Qadri asked his supporters to remain peaceful and speaking to media representatives from inside the aircraft said: "The righteous shall win."
Regarding the JIT formed to probe the June 17 Model Town killings, he said any probe team comprising of police officers from Punjab would not be acceptable.
The June 17 incident saw the deaths of at least 11 people during a clash between police and PAT supporters.
The PAT had later staged anti-government sit-ins along with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) outside the Parliament in the federal capital city.
However, PAT had called off protests on Oct 21 following which Qadri had left for Canada apparently to reorganise his party and raise funds.
Recently, however, Qadri and PTI Chairman Imran were declared proclaimed offenders by an anti-terrorism court in a case relating to an attack on a senior police officer and storming of the PTV building on Sept 1.

I wish they had kept him in Canada he should try there to do his preaching. These are the loyal Canadians that have their income form Pakistan and live in Canada. He converts the his income in Rupees to Canadian dollars and transfers it there so they can live in comfort. These are the kind of people that give us lectures about honesty .

Qadri kept fooling the people of Pakistan through his firebrand rants for two consecutive months and then went to Canada to get his Canadian Passport extended which was expiring in December 2014. He has taken good rest and enjoyed himself for a month before coming back to fool his blindfolded followers.
Indeed, those who still believe in Qadri have chosen "willful blindness" for themselves.

This happens only in Pakistan. A man who has already declared his allegiance to Canada want to create rumpus for common man in Pakistan. Why is he allowed to have processions obstructing the life of everybody and which engages the whole security apparatus of the government. Back in Canada his new adopted home ,even the housekeepers of the airport will not look at him. He dare not try to any such thing in Canada otherwise he will be behind the bars.
He claims to be a Islamic Scholar, he should know the Hadith of our prophet Muhammad (SAW) who said that the muslim is one from whose mischief of hand tongue other muslims are safe.
How come he is still creating troubles for the common man through his action.
May Allah save us from the wrath of these Pseudo Scholars. Ameen.

Dr Qadri was definitely missed as the firebrand cleric turned politician mesmerised his audience and despite repetitive rhetorics, you wanted more. It is to be seen if he intend to pick up from where he left parking his container beside his cousin or lead a rally into Islamabad on 30th November in support. It is sheer numbers that may act as a wake up call for government to improve governance, introduce legislation bringing in reforms making ECP an independent body giving complete powers to its Chief equivalent to that of a judge, introduce urgent police reforms so police guarding VIP as Chowkidaars become police officers wielding power to act independent of government, legislate to improve court system with prosecution service acting upon police investigation free of political favours, transparency in all major government departments, make CBR independent not abused as a punching bag and more importantly give power to the people through local body elections.

All the people who claimed Dr. Qadri had abandoned his mission and had run away should now hang their heads in shame.
He is back to raise mass protests against the illegitimate Sharif regime, and to serve as the voice of people who otherwise would have no voice.
All of the people posting against him here have nothing to contribute to the resolution of Pakistan's problems; Dr. Qadri has done a world of good in raising awareness among people that it is not obligatory for them to continue to silently accept injustice from their rulers, who in any case are not legitimately elected.
The message he brings is: things don't have to be this way, and you can get the nation's wealth back from those conmen who have been looting it in the name of "democracy".
May Allah bless him and grant him victory in his movement!

@Z Khan He was not arrested because the government, along with everyone else, is very much aware that the arrest warrant is a baseless political move, and so arresting him will cause such a huge level of unrest that it could very easily be reason for the Army to intervene.

I am disappointed by the comments made by the readers on return of Qadri to Pakistan. They are all against his return.
This shows how naive and narrow minded Pakistani nation is. They do not seem to understand their basic problems: law and order, corruption, economy, jobs, health, education, energy, infrastructure, etc. You all say that the system is broken, and must be changed. Qadri is also saying it should be changed, and he is working for it. Then you turn around and say Qadri is wrong. It does not make sense.
Keep your focus on the basic problem, and help Imran and Qadri to change the system. Otherwise, you will remain doomed.

Further more it is also be noticed that qadri was banned by Emirates air to travel and if today he had staged same drama as was in Emirates air he would have been also banned by the Qatar air. But this is an example of how justice system works in Pakistan -- in simple words -- there is none --
