Importance of IT stressed

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai awards a degree to a student at the annual convocation of the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences here on Wednesday.—PPI

QUETTA: It is not possible to achieve developmental goals without the assistance and promotion of information technology, students at a university convocation were told on Wednesday.

Addressing the 10th convocation of the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences, Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai said that only scientific ways could help us meet challenges of new era and compete with other nations in the world.

“Education is not only a source to getting latest scientific updates, it also helps in character-building,” he said.

About 650 students were awarded degrees and medals at the convocation.

Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch said: “It is an era of science and information technology and we all will have to play our due role to put province on the track of progress and prosperity.”

He announced a grant of Rs20 million for the university.
