Key commanders of Gul Bahadur group killed in Datakhel strikes: reports

PESHAWAR: Conflicting reports suggest that air strikes conducted in Datakhel tehsil of North Waziristan Agency have killed key commanders of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group.
The dead are reported to include Gul Bahadur, Sadiq Noor and Akhtar Muhammad along with 30 other militants of the group.
Some sources are saying that at least seven key commanders of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group have died in the strikes.
Pakistani F16 jet fighters targeted the militants compound and a vehicle in Seen Tanga area of Datakhel tehsil of the agency.
Military sources say that the strikes have been carried out against the militants in the area but their identity and the causality figure is yet to be confirmed.

Hafiz Gul Bahadur is commander of the Shura Mujahideen in North Waziristan. He had signed a peace deal with the Pakistani army in 2006, which had been renewed in 2008.

Bahadur however withdrew from the agreement citing the military operation in North Waziristan as a violation of the peace treaty.
Bahadur is also reportedly associated with the Haqqani group while leading his own group of the Taliban in NWA distinct from the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

@Faisal Part of the reason for waiting so long was IK/PTI's staunch opposition to military action. They wanted us to negotiate with people who explicitly rejected our constitution.

This guy didnt want to fight Pakistan and he only wanted to fight Afghans and Americans. So it is not a victory for us. We all know that US and Afghans are no friend of Pakistan. US and Afghans haven't killed any of our enemies in Afghan territory. I smell RAT
I say BRING BACK DOUBLE STANDARDS that Musharaf used to keep our strategic dept policy. We will be left with not dept and only enemies on our other border.

@Azad Khial, These terrorists have been there for more than a decade while IK hasn't been in the picture before 2012. Secondly, Pakistan army have never allowed politicians to dictate or effect on such issues. Matter of the fact is that Gen. Kiyani wasn't ready to take the risk of caos in the metropol cities which he assumed would happen once they start such advancements.

@Sunil In tribal Areas there are several tribal leaders with their followers operating in their respective areas. And Gul Bahadur is One of the Tribal leaders who was never operating in Afghanistan neither in Pakistan they never even resisted the Terrorists hiding in their Area. So Army decided to take action against GB as well. I myself was wondering if Army will Take Action against this Leader as GB is not Anti-Pakistan like Haqqani Group.
