Imran asks people to donate money in charity

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan urged people on Friday to donate money for charity and welfare works instead of wasting it on wedding ceremonies.
Talking to journalists after his valima reception held for seminary students, he thanked all those who had congratulated him on his marriage and asked the well-wishers desiring to send him gifts to donate the money to the Shaukat Khanum Hospital project in Peshawar so that it could be completed this year and patients from Fata and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were treated there.
The PTI chief said that everyday millions of people remained deprived of a square meal and money was unfortunately wasted on unnecessary functions. Mr Khan said he wanted to delay his wedding after the Peshawar school attack but had to do it earlier because of the media hype.
In reply to a question, he said his party’s demand for a judicial commission to investigate the alleged poll rigging was only for strengthening democracy in the country.

Unfortunately, we have adopted values of hindus while living with them in the sub-continent for 1000+ years. Even a small contribution to a needy person (such as a small business loan) can potentially change the fortunes of his family.

In other news NS has asked charities to donate money to him.
I would like to see IK do more of these things, he will win the hearts and minds of all Pakistanis by these gestures. Unforuntely I think the Dharnas and sit ins have become a failure and he has two options. 1) Use legal channels 2) Prepare for next elections now. He has three years to win peoples support easily if all he does is charitable work and goes around the country doing good deeds.NS and AZ are self destructive. Showing a more humane and humble side has always been his forte. Its only a question of time thats people will be totally fed up of NS buying his buddies Mercedes and R Malik delaying flights. What we need is a peoples person and IK can do it. Question is will his wife be a boon or a burden on his political career? Can they be the beloved power couple that can make Pks fall in love with them or will they despise them?
When in Rome do as the Romans do.
When in Pk live like the Pks do.

I used to be a die heart support of imran khan and donated nearly 1 lac during Darna alone. But after this marriage I left his party like most of my friends. All elite class is same, they only like Pakistan for Protocols and Ruling, when it comes to their personal life then they cant settle or synchronize with a Pakistani sister or daughter from a middle class family. They want a UK breed mini skirt wearing babe.
All those who say its his personal affair are absolutely wrong, he is a political figure trying to make decisions for my kids n country, every aspect of his life has to be judged. Wasim Akram married, no one even noticed, yes, in his case it was a personal thing - he doesnt call ppl for darna n change.
I can bet on it that Imran khan wont win from KPK in next election.
Bye bye Mr.Khan from my side and many of my friends, ur major funders were over seas Pakistanis and now they are not part of ur party.
I hope he goes for an other protest, he will come to know how much support he has left.

Good initiative! One suggestion though - can't the family show a bit of restraint in the use of cola? Either it should be for everyone or it should not be there at all. It is not a criticism but just a small suggestion to the great Khan of the times.

He did it because of the media hype? You could have just said "Yes I plan to marry Reham Khan," and ended the hype, instead of saying it was exaggerated (which boggles the mind, how does "he's gettingg married to Reham khan" sound like an exaggeration, if anything it's a spoiler alert at most). Also didn't he say he was gonna wait until after "Naya Pakistan" come to fruition, I maybe mistaken here but unless maybe Reham Khans' middle name is "Naya Pakistan" I do believe he took another U-turn. Yes the 100 day dholki wasn't enough prepare your wallets folks. I never liked the idea of outlandish weddings so kudos on that, but after costing 1billion on your security (which cost the nation not you or your personal assets) its nice to see you giving back.

@Waqar Jan - people have preference for a type and it is personal. It could be that IK likes understanding before marriage which works better with RK so what's wrong with that.
