KARACHI: The Mohajir Qaumi Movement, better known as MQM-Haqiqi, on Friday demanded a thorough and transparent probe into the Baldia Town factory fire.

The youth wing of the MQM-H took out a rally from Sharea Faisal to the Karachi Press Club, demanding that the authorities identify forces behind the decades-old violence in the metropolis.

Speakers said on the occasion that the Baldia factory fire probe could also lead to the ‘mafia’ involved in the May 12, 2007 mayhem and April 9, 2008 arson attack on Tahir Plaza.

“The Baldia Town factory fire probe is a challenge for both provincial and federal governments,” said MQM-H leader Aftab Hasan. “If the authorities did not show any interest or try to divert the probe, they would also be held responsible for this barbaric act of terrorism. The government should not compromise and come out of all fears for the sake of justice.”
