CHARSADDA: The Charsadda police on Wednesday announced they had arrested five killers of 10 members of a family in Tangi.

The attack was carried out before the rising of the sun.

The announcement was made by DPO Charsadda Shafiullah during a news conference here, where SP investigation Pir Shahab, DSPs Abdur Rashid Khan and Raza Mohammad Khan and SHOs of local police stations were also in attendance.

The DPO said the police arrested five over the killings.

“Lal Seed, Mohammad Zaman and Sher Rehman confessed that they along with two accomplices entered the house of their uncle, Jamal, in Pirano Korona on April 5 and killed 10 members of the family,” he said.

Hazrat Nawab, brother of the deceased Jamal, alleged that Gul Ahmad Syed led killers.

However, the police said Gul Ahmad was not involved in the murder and instead, his brothers were behind the killings.

They said they reached killers by following their cellphone calls.

The police said the arrested men claimed they killed 10 people to take the revenge of the murder of their parents, brother and sister-in-law by Gul Ahmad Syed on the instigation of their uncle, Jamal.

They said the killers claimed they didn’t want to harm women and children but when they shouted, they were killed.

Local residents said the killings took place on a dispute over a marriage proposal.
