KARACHI: The last day of the opening four-day unofficial Test between Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Pakistan ‘A’ was washed out without a ball being bowled at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday.

The Sri Lankans, who were replying to the tourists’ 401, were due to resume their first innings at 313-5 but umpires Asanga Jayasooriya and Rohitha Kottahachchi decided to call off play since the outfield was saturated by heavy rains in the Sri Lankan capital.

Friday’s third day was also curtailed by rain as Sri Lanka ‘A’ moved from 95-3 to 313-5 with Kusal Perera leading the way by hitting an undefeated 119 and Asela Gunaratne 64 in the unfinished sixth-wicket partnership of 198.

The second game in the three-match series starts from Wednesday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. The final ‘Test’ will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla from May 20.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ earlier defeated Fawad Alam’s side 2-1 in the preceding one-day series.

Summarised scores:

PAKISTAN ‘A’ 401 (Umar Amin 99, Khurram Manzoor 82, Fawad Alam 72, Shehzad Azam Rana 47 not out; P.H.T. Kaushal 6-117, D.M. de Silva 2-47); SRI LANKA ‘A’ 313-5 (M.D.K.J. Perera 119 not out, D.A.S. Gunaratne 64 not out, K.D.K. Vithanage 39, M.D.U.S. Jayasundera 31; Mir Hamza 3-58, Zia-ul-Haq 2-56).
