Abdullah: The Final Witness, starring Imran Abbas, Sajid Hasan, Sadia Khan and Hameed Sheikh, registered its presence in the film market as it emerged as a surprise last minute entry to the Cannes Film Festival this year.

After being the only feature-length film to represent Pakistan at Cannes, Abdullah will be screened locally on June 5, according to its distribution company, Distribution Club.

The 90-minute, Urdu-language film is based on the controversial Kharotabad incident in Quetta on May 17, 2011, when a group of four Russian citizens and one Tajik, three women and two men, were killed while travelling through Balochistan. The film's story derives from the original inquiry and court proceedings of the incident, and has been shot in the original locations. Abdullah is the first film on the subject, and aims to answer questions raised by international media.
