KOHAT, Oct 10: At least four people were killed and nine seriously injured when a Peshawar-bound truck collided head-on with an incoming coaster on the Indus Highway near Lachi town on Friday afternoon.

The injured were rushed to various hospitals where Liaquat, son of Hassan Din, Sahib Shah, son of Tor Khan, residents of Peshawar, Rakhshanda Bibi, a resident of Lahore and the driver of the coaster whose name could not be ascertained were pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck bearing number PRN-9805 has been arrested. All the dead were travelling in the coaster No Peshawar-7973.

The names of the injured are Rab Nawaz, Zubair, Mushtaq Khan, Samina Bibi, Aqil Khan, Jan Mohammad, Mohammad Ayub, Rehman and Sher Ali.

AM KILLED: In another accident, an imam of a mosque (prayer-leader) was crushed to death by an over speeding car on the Indus Highway near Jarma on Friday.

According to police, Tahir Gul, son of Roshan Gul, was going to a mosque to lead the prayers on a bicycle when a car No 8078- Karachi hit him as a result he died on the spot.

The police impounded the car and registered a case against its owners who escaped from the scene after the accident.
