Bahrain asks PIA to clear dues within a month

LAHORE: The Bahrain authorities have asked the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to pay its outstanding amount worth 71,000 riyals within 30 days otherwise they may not allow its overflying activity there.
In a letter to PIA, the Bahrain’s ministry of transportation and telecommunication said it had finalised the accounts (in June 2015) of all outstanding amount of PIA since 2010 which is 71,000 riyals.
“We request you to settle the outstanding amount within 30 days failing to do so we will have no other alternative but to stop the overflying activity of PIA to seek payment of the outstanding balance,” it warned.
Earlier, the Paris airport authority had imposed 40,000 euros fine on PIA for violating curfew hours at its airport.
PIA spokesman Aamir Memon told Dawn that Bahrain had worked out the amount in connection with parking, overflying and landing charges since 2010.
“The bill has been forwarded to the fuel department for reconciliation of the accounts. We will pay the amount once the department concerned approves it,” he said, adding such outstanding amounts with foreign airlines were ongoing financial matters.

i do not understand that what type of people working in PIA? every where complaining due to their dues and other airport expanses and no body cares. Better to privatize it on urgent basis and do not waste the Tex payers money due to negligence of these non professional management.

Sir, Bahrain Currency is Bahrain Dhinar (1 BHD= 270 PKR). so we need to pay PKR 19170000.

one of my friend got food poisoning on a flight. he could have sue it but did not as it will be wastage of time and money. the food they are giving is expired and rotten. i think they do not want anyone to travel on it

What,s all the fuss about,man? Airlines owe money to different aviation authorities all the time. Fourty thousand euros and seventy thousand tiyals no big amount for PIA!!! Don't put down your country at the slightest mistake.

PIA can do corruption in Pakistan but not outside Pakistan; flight delays might be acceptable in Pakistan to cater some minister, but in Europe or US, they have to follow international standards. Prompt payment of bills is another standard of quality airline or part of normal corporation; probably the money allotted to Pay Saudi or Bahrain must be eaten up be some corrupt politician or their clan for years and showing on papers going to outside payments. Shame on extreme corruption and poor governance in PIA and all other State or Federal own corporations like Pakistan Steel Mill, all flooded with politically appointed people of no caliber.

@Corruption Hater Very simple, reduce over staffing, trimming of inefficient employees; bring a damp honest, brave MD, employ best available management people even from other international airlines; do not accept "parchi" even from the highest authorities for jobs. If Lalu can turn the Indian Railway from loss to a multi crore profitable instution, why can't we one of his kind in whole of country?
