RAWALPINDI: Fearing retaliation from militants, the government has placed the country’s 36 airports on red alert.
According to sources, security of major airports, including Benazir Bhutto International Airport and Nur Khan Airbase, had been heightened on Tuesday but extra caution was extended to all the airports.
Though security had been beefed up at airports, passengers were being handled smoothly, a senior security official told Dawn.
He, however, said temporary passes for visitors had been cancelled while people entering airport premises were being subjected to questioning and search.

The only people allowed inside the airports should be passengers with a valid ticket. I never get the whole 'baraat' culture at our airports where the the whole family comes to pick drop their loved ones.

From last year citizens of Rawalpindi canot approach airport,even for the payment /purchase of air ticket booked online,......pathetic!
