SUKKUR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has dismissed the demand of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement for a separate province in Sindh as unjustified.
He was speaking at a press conference at the residence of Khalid Khan Loond at Khalidabad and a corner meeting near Mirpur Mathelo on Friday.
Answering a reporter’s question, the PTI chief said the MQM’s demand for creating a new province in Sindh was unjustified. Sindh should remain a single province and efforts should be made for its development, he added.
Criticising the PPP’s government, he alleged that massive corruption had been committed while implementing development projects in Sindh and looted money was going into the pockets of politicians and influential people.
He said the public money looted from Sindh and other parts of the country was being sent to politicians living in London and other foreign cities.
He alleged that those ruling Sindh for a long time on the promise of providing ‘roti, kapra aur makan’ gave nothing to people. He said time for the people of Sindh had come to wake up and work for change. The people of Sindh should join the PTI for making a new Sindh, he added.
Imran Khan said during his visit to Sindh he had noticed that people of this province now wanted a change.
He invited Mr Loond to join the PTI and work for the betterment of the people of Sindh.
Mr Loond said he would consult his friends and would possibly join the PTI along with his friends.
Mr Khan also visited the village of Sardar Haji Khan Chachar in Pano Akil on the invitation of his nephew Sardar Ali Abbas Khan Chachar.
During the visit, Sardar Ali Abbas announced joining the PTI.
Talking to reporters, Imran Khan alleged that police stations in Sindh had become properties of Waderas and police had failed in their basic duty of providing security to people. He said postings and transfers of government officers were made on political grounds.
The PTI chief regretted that despite earning huge revenues for the country, Sindh, particularly Karachi, continued to remain deprived of basic facilities.
He said that PTI’s tsunami had entered Sindh and the party would form the next government in the province.
