Indian publishers donate books to Iqbal Manzil

SIALKOT: Some Indian publishers and printers have donated as many as 123 books on Iqbaliyat to Iqbal Manzil, the birthplace of Allama Iqbal, to pay homage to the poet on his 138th birth anniversary.

Syed Riaz Hussain Naqvi, who is in charge of Iqbal Manzil, said the books cover various aspects of Allama’s life, his poetry, his philosophy and his role in struggle for Pakistan.

The Indian books had been added to more than 4,200 books in the library at Iqbal Manzil, he added.

Meanwhile, various events will be held here in connection with Iqbal Day. Sialkot Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s Committee on Farogh-i-Iqbaliyat chairman Shehzada Ibne Iqbal Syed said a cake cutting ceremony would be held at the Iqbal Manzil on Monday by the chamber. SCCI president retired Maj Mansur Ahmed will cut the cake.

A large number of people including students of different schools and colleges and their teachers will visit Iqbal Manzil, where Kalaam-i-Iqbal (Iqbal’s poetry) recitation and speech contests would be held.

The district administration will also organise a seminar on Allama Iqbal and his philosophy of ‘Khudi’ at the Seerat Study Center in Cantonment area.

Gujranwala Division’s Commissioner Shamail Ahmed Khawaja will be the chief guest. Various experts on Iqbaliyat from across the country will attend the seminar.

DCO Dr Asif Tufail said an All Pakistan Mehfil-i-Mushaaira (poetry recital sitting) will be held at Anwar Club Auditorium on Monday night.
