LAHORE: PML-Q leadership has dissolved party organisations in Punjab and constituted three committees for reorganisation.
The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi here on Sunday. Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Basharat Raja, Dr Azeemuddin Lakhvi, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, Ahmad Yar Hiraj, Aamir Sultan Cheema and Tariq Bashir Cheema were present in the meeting.
Elahi, a former deputy prime minister, said the decision to dissolve the organisations had been taken for effective reorganisation of the party.
Three committees – for upper Punjab (Raja, Zaheeruddin and Cheema), south Punjab (Hiraj, Tariq Cheema and Muhammad Khan Leghari) and central Punjab (Agha, Lakhvi, Mian Munir and Bao Rizwan) – had been tasked with completing reorganisation within three months.
The committees will report to the party leadership every two weeks. They will also visit each district under their jurisdiction and nominate new office-bearers after consultation with local party leaders and workers. An organiser of each district will be appointed to coordinate with the committee. Different party wings had been directed to collaborate with the organising committees.
