LAHORE: Civil society organisations – the Joint Action Committee for People‘s Rights, the Pakistan Civil Society Forum and the Women’s Action Forum –staged a rally at Charing Cross on Saturday to support the Punjab Protection of Women Act of 2016.
The participants chanted slogans in favour of the Act-2016, saying they would not allow anyone to amend or repeal the law. They urged the Punjab government to reject pressure by some political groups demanding repealing of the law.
With placards and banners, the participants said those opposing the law actually did not want to see women spend their lives independently and gracefully.
In a press statement, they criticised opposition to the pro-women laws.

NGO's are requested not to bring foreign cultures in our society. Islam already has given plenty of rights to the women and we dont need any western laws.

Yes a few dozen western-inspired women on one side and millions of Pakistani Muslims on the other hand. Please project dozens and blackout millions. This is wonderful Pakistani journalism.

@Dr Arslan Vistro Women and human right actvists have to fight this negative mind set among men to deny rights to women for protection from domestic violence. Islam does not give right to men to mistreat or torture their spouses. Husband and wife both have to work together to make marriage work with mutual respect.
