MULTAN: PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s waving to the crowd (on GT Road) has moved candidate for the Democratic US presidential nomination Hillary Clinton.
“I just saw Bilawal Bhutto on TV and he sounds just like his mother," her text message to former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani reads.
“Tell him I said good luck and I hope he achieves the success his mother was trying to achieve”, the text goes on.
Mr Gilani told Dawn that he had received the text message from Ms Clinton on Tuesday.
On Monday, Mr Bhutto-Zardari took on his first ever road show from Islamabad to Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
At places, the PPP chairperson braved security threats and came out of his vehicle to wave to the charged crowds.
Mr Gilani was elated at the sentiments of Ms Clinton.
He wrote to her: “It’s a pleasure to hear such reassuring words from you. I have conveyed your sentiment to Chairman Bilawal and he is really happy to receive such encouragement from you. You have been a consistent friend of Pakistan and the PPP. We hope to see you as president soon and wish you all the success in the upcoming elections”.

Bilawal's only qualification is being son of BB nullified by his father's lackluster performance at the helm during last term and the perception of corrupt practices he is credited for. The Bilawal can distance himself from his father better the chances of revival for PPP - he is young and has time.

Hillary is good leader and having positive thinking for the Bilawl is good but by addressing the public as like your elders addressed shall not make you great as like they were. You have to make more struggle and proof themselves by taking hard steps and by throwing friendly opposition so that people of the country could be aware about your positiveness that how you are against the corrupt and corrupt elements.

Forgot to mention...... PPP has an exemplary performance in Sindh.... really Hats off..... Karachi the financial hub is in the worst condition, more then 150 children died in Thar, Funds released for investment in sindh's infrastructure vanish in thin air, Rangers have to do operation in Karachi & SIndh Police is sleeping....... Commendable performance of 2 consecutive terms....Way to go

People of Pakistan should do what is best for Pakistan. Foreign meddling in Pakistani affairs particularly by West, India and certain Arab countries has led to more problems. Curse of AlQaeda, Taliban terrorism has been created by our past leaders who blindly followed the edicts (now called text messages) from foreign leaders. Bilawal must stand on his own two feet and not need Clinton provided crutches to become popular. Mr. Gilani as in the past has simply proved to be an opportunist.

Thank you for showing complete lack of understanding of Pakistani politics.. Every electricity bill reminds us the power tariff agreements signed by her government. These agreements ensure that Pakistan will lag behind India and Bangladesh as at our agreed rates, our products will never be competitive, our government will always struggle with circular debt and our people will never come out of blackouts.

Only a strong, proactive and visionary leadership can revive PPP. Bilawal will have to be strong and proactive whereas he need a lot of visionary people around him, not Gilanis and Rajas. Unfortunately, it "is" like dynasty but Pakistani democracy is not mature enough to get rid of it at this point. If it continued for 50+ years then yes, dynasty will vanish by itself.

I hope he is successful" how can he will be better when he was surrounded by the corrupt people he never spoke of corruption and incompetence in his party he never spoke about the dual standards of his own Government in Sindh when they facilitate banned sectarian outfits and even made alliances with them. Can you tell me how you judged that he is better ? quote any single action taken by him to rectify the disastrous governance in Sindh ?
