PESHAWAR: A local court in Chitral on Tuesday sent the principal of a private school to jail on judicial remand for assaulting minor students.
Drosh police registered a first information report under the Child Protection Act against the principal of The Learners Public School, Drosh.
The teacher, identified as Inamul Kabir, was soon arrested after a video of him assaulting students was picked up by the mainstream media.
Police presented the teacher to the court of a judicial magistrate, after which Kabir was sent to jail on judicial remand for a week.
An eye-witness present at the court said the teacher "seemed nervous" while a police official told DawnNews Kabir regretted his actions.
A video of the chilling incident went viral on social media, as what appears to be a secret mobile phone camera films the teacher indiscriminately beating a group of students in the school ground with a wooden stick.
In the 1 minute 36 seconds clip recorded through mobile, the teacher was torturing students aged between eight to 10 years.
In the video, the students continue to cry and attempt to run away but the teacher does not stop the beatings.
The National Assembly in 2013 unanimously adopted a bill providing up to one-year imprisonment and up to Rs 50,000 penalty for the person found guilty of inflicting corporal punishment on children.
The bill was aimed at protecting dignity of the children as human rights.

Wow, it looks like this teacher has some major psychological problems. It reminds me of my days when some of my teachers at Dehli Govt Boys Secondary School in Karachi used to beat me up and other fellow students like animals, and we couldn't even complain about it to anyone, as they said "Ustaadh ki maar mein shafqat hai". School is not a bad place to be but these lunatic behaviors from some of the teachers make schools one of the horrible places to be in your childhood. I feel the pain of these kids and urge the parents to escalate this matter to the highest possible venue. These kinds of teachers ruin students future!!!

There are many other people like this mentally sick person who present themselves to be the guiders of the future leaders in the eyes of society but in reality they are actual culprits who discourage and dishearten children from the persuit of education. For proper implementation of Child Protection Act of 2013, every govt and private school must be equipped with monitoring cameras because this in fact is the most critical issue of the society.

These sicko so called teacher are probabally in every town in Pakistan, but go unnotice for years on end. This practice must be stopped immedately, how? having strict codes of conduct in every school from infant to 10th class, also legislation to back it up. when these sickos know their boundries and work contact they will behave themselves for sure. It's no go taking your personal home issue out on poor students, i don't care what wife does to you you keep it home.

I think, a complaint mechanism needs to be established, where the kids and parent can register their complaints regarding corporal punishment along with evidence. In this era of cellular technology - things are so simple to report.
Also, the outcome of this arrest can be promoted and communicated to all teachers across the country.

I don't understand this. The show his face uncovered. But cover the faces of target killers, terroristso and almost every other violent criminal.
Is there a policy here I am missing? This cannot be a criminal offense. The school needs to be reprimanded, he should never be allowed to work with children.

This happens everyday in lots of schools, there is not vid for all, Please take serious action. I hate the irresponsible parents of these students. Cant imagine exposing my kids to such abuse. This depresses the kids and cause life long personality disorders and miserable lives.

I am shocked at what i saw. This person should be sent to psychological analysis - he is not a human - let alone a Teacher - beating minor kids in such a manner in 21st century is impossible to even think about.
Under no condition children should be touched.
Teaching is such a position that LIVE Societies give highest regard to - it is a position that after one's family - teachers are the ones that makes the Nation - having teachers who are well paid and well trained is vital - if Pakistan has to progress.

Sadly, that is how the system works in Pak. Whoever has the upper hand beats the people below. Police beat the prisoners, Wadera beats the people he controls, Rich beats the poor etc. etc. This is the reason majority of the people in Pak are sadist and have no value for human life.
Also, it is the reason it is so easy to find terrorist in Pak.

Anyone who can reach rural areas in Pakistan to get such videos for sharing please do so. There not only the cruelty act by teachers by they also make innocent kids to do their domestic work. It's an endless stories. Why would the government be bothered when their own children are studying abroad.
