LONDON: The Altaf Hussain-led Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-London) has expelled several key leaders from party membership for “violating discipline”.
MQM-London’s deputy convener Nadeem Nusrat chaired a meeting in London and announced that the basic membership of Amir Khan, Faisal Sabzwari, Khawaja Izharul Hassan and Kishwar Zehra has been revoked for violating party discipline, a press statement by the party said on Wednesday.
The party, in its statement, has advised “loyal members” to avoid keeping any contact with the expelled leaders.
Earlier this month, MQM’s London-based leadership announced the expulsion of MQM Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar from the party.
Wasay Jalil, and party leaders Mustafa Azizabadi, Qasim Ali Raza and Mohammad Ishfaq in a joint statement released by the party’s London secretariat, announced that Dr Sattar had been expelled from the party due to “repeated betrayals to the party and the supreme leadership”.
The statement warned that disciplinary action and a social boycott would be imposed on those defying party orders.
Farooq Sattar in August sidelined MQM supremo Altaf Hussain after an anti-Pakistan rant which was followed by an attack on the ARY News office. The MQM’s London leadership has rejected the minus-Altaf formula, asserting that Altaf is still the party’s uncontested chief.

I wonder what did MQM achieve. In spite of the big mandate to MQM and enjoying the power practically with all ruling parties, they could not eliminate quota system in Sind and bring to Pakistan the stranded Pakistanis in Bangla Desh. The MQM has failed to achieve these two basic demands.
Likewise, MQM did not deliver during the mayorship of Farooq Sattar. Therefore, MQM does not talk of its performance in that period.
Naimtullah Khan as mayor initiated a lot of projects to fill the big gaps left by MQM in Farooq Sattar period. The projects take time and many of those projects were completed in ensuing period of Mustafa Kamal. However, whole credit was exonerated by MQM., the party known for its exonerating money from the common people.

Hating hindsight...MQM London should have been forgotten and left two decades ago by the existing members. In the same breadth the members of PPP should not allow a family limited enterprise to call the shots. The elder members should revolt and demand that Zardari come back and face the music. How can you run a country/province from Dubai and remain on top.
In fact, when Altaf flew off to London to save his skin from the LEAs he got it all wrong thinking his party will pull it off as puppeteers. Now the mess that has been created is going to take a very long time and with the intransigence and opaque approach to change by the feudal Parliament.......God Almighty help Pakistan.

Mr. Altaf and his cronies, who are based in UK and enjoy UK citizenship by their own choice, should leave thinking about Pakistan and let Mr. Farooq Sattar and his associates, to represent Urdu speaking community. Mr. Altaf Hussain, who has taken an oath of allegiance to British Queen, should play his party in UK politics.

Most of the readers here suggest Farooq Sattar and his cronies to work independently and form a new party. I would say to those reader please note Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal and others are just workers of MQM who have been working under the leadership of Altaf Hussain. Leaders are born and not manufactured. You might have noticed several times the way Farooq Sattar and Mustafa Kamal talk in public. They never look like leaders in any aspect, rather they talk like workers.
